Phase one of the natural play element funded through the Big Lottery funds is now complete which include boulders, bridge timbers and ditch area a wildflower meadow. Combined with this phase two is to start on the 19th October with monies gained through the play builder’s project to provide actual play structures and equipment for climbing, balancing and swinging, to further enhance the park facilities, which have been chosen by the local children to integrate, complement and enhance the space, to provide an exciting and challenging play experience. The combination of both projects offers inclusivity of all children and young people with the varying skills and abilities.

Fenchurch Children’s Centre have been successful gaining funds from the Early Year’s Capital Grant to improve the outdoor provision within the Nursery and Children’s Centre grounds which will incorporate a forest schools area. It is the Centre’s vision that this space will be accessible, welcoming and inclusive to all children living within the local community. The forest environment will provide children with the opportunity and encouragement to use and develop their skills in a range of situations building their competence in communicating, speaking and listening, which will help them to develop a positive sense of themselves and others, social skills and a positive disposition to learn.

The Play builders Project, Early Years Capital bid the Natural Play project will link together enhance and add value to both Sculcoates Park and the Children’s Centre, providing the community with an ultimate facility offering an inclusive outdoor environment that contributes to, and enriches, the quality of all children’s overall play and learning experiences.

Thus creating an area that children can have the opportunity to play in such a rich resourced area to promote their co-ordination, physical and dexterity skills alongside informed choice, assessing risk and the thrill and enjoyment of movement through different forms.
